Job summary

Durham Community Health Centre seeks a Health Promoter to advance health equity for African, Caribbean and Black communities. You will partner with staff and community groups to assess needs, design education and prevention programs, and reduce barriers to care.

The role emphasizes collaboration, advocacy, and outcome-focused initiatives across multiple sites. The position is full-time and contract-based until July 30, 2027, with a primary location in North Oshawa and flexibility to serve

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in health, social science, adult education, or related discipline with relevant experience.
Excellent communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
Experience in health promotion, education, and program evaluation related to youth.
Knowledge of ACB populations; lived experience is an asset.
Minimum three years in health promotion/education in community settings.

Responsibilities

Identify health needs of residents and priority populations in the community.
Establish priority issues with staff, partners, and community members and select strategies.
Develop partnerships to support health promotion programs and initiatives.
Facilitate groups, events, and community initiatives.
Assist in developing projects to improve client health and community control over health.
