Job description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario is seeking to recruit an academic Gynecologic Oncologist for 1 (one) 0.75 FTE (60% clinical, 20% education, 10% research and 10% administrative) full time (0.75 FTE) position, with a start date of July 2027. The successful candidate will join the staff at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. The current complement of seven specialists offers tertiary care in Gynecologic Oncology for the City of Hamilton, LHINs 3 and 4 (Waterloo, Wellington, Hamilton Niagara, Haldimand and Brant). This role will be operated within a practice-share model shared with three other gynecologic oncologists.

The ideal candidate will have advanced training beyond residency and bring demonstrated expertise in both surgical and medical management of gynecologic cancers. Clinical competencies should include the administration of chemotherapy and biologic agents, cytoreductive surgery, minimally invasive surgical approaches, and the management of pre-invasive disease of the gynecologic tract.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to the principles of education for all levels of learners (residents and undergraduate students) and will provide leadership and training to future Gynecology surgeons.

The candidate will be expected to participate in all of the appropriate departmental and divisional administrative and educational activities. Candidates must have demonstrated capability and interest in clinical, education and/or basic science research and show evidence of a history of research productivity and/or commitment to pursue research that aligns with the departmental divisional academic mission and vision. Alternatively, demonstration of leadership in quality health care delivery (ie., hospital, university or the like) would be of interest.

This is a full-time faculty position in the Special category, for a period of three years (renewable). Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary is composed of a combination of Alternate Payment Plan salary through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as well as stipends provided by the University to support academic and educational activities.
