Job summary

Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) invites applications for an Adult Basic Education instructor to deliver 6 courses in the Adult 10 program at Canoe Lake First Nation. The role requires a Bachelor of Education and a Saskatchewan teaching certificate or eligibility, with emphasis on adult learning principles and inclusive, supportive instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education from an accredited institution.
• Must possess a Saskatchewan teaching certificate or be eligible to obtain one.
• Understanding of adult learning theories and principles is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction of 6 courses in the Adult 10 program.
• Prepare lesson plans and appropriate delivery methods.
• Create, maintain and submit all course-related materials including evaluations, attendance records, course evaluations, and annual year plans.
• Incorporate current technology advancements within instruction and administration where applicable.
• Make recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum and evaluation procedures and instruments.
• Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures.
• Foster a positive, collaborative and professional working relationship among students, coworkers and partners across the institution.
• Maintain classroom and lab discipline and, if necessary, recommend action to supervisor regarding student behavior.
