Job summary

Family Services à la famille Ottawa (FSO-SFO) is seeking a program worker to monitor supervised visitation and exchanges on-site in Ottawa. You will support the supervision team, maintain accurate records, and ensure visits comply with program guidelines.

You will coordinate volunteer visit monitors, handle client questions, and assist with incident reporting and fee collection. The role requires empathy, strong boundaries, and the ability to work in emotionally charged environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education, with some post-secondary coursework in social services.
• At least two years of related experience.
• Experience with diverse populations and trauma-informed approaches.
• Knowledge of child custody, access and family dynamics.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-management skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Bilingual EN/FR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and facilitate supervised visits and exchanges.
• Update lineups and inform clients of schedule changes.
• Prepare visit spaces to be welcoming and appropriate.
• Ensure all participants follow program guidelines.
• Supervise visits up to two hours when needed.
• Provide on-site orientation to volunteer monitors.
• Respond to client questions and potential conflicts professionally.
• Review visit notes for accuracy and completeness.
• Complete and file critical incident reports.
• Collect program fees and maintain payment records.
• Maintain tidy, safe visit sites and manage supplies.
• Prepare and photocopy documents for program delivery.
• Attend mandatory staff training and meetings.
• Administer client satisfaction surveys as directed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reportingto the Manager of the parenting program, you will be responsible for monitoringand ensuring coordination of the supervised visitation and exchange servicesfor the supervised access program. The program worker supervises visits,ensures that the program guidelines are respected, assigns volunteer visitmonitors to families, answers questions and concerns from clients and volunteervisit monitors, defuses potential conflicts, reviews observation notes, andcollects and records program fees.

Major Responsibilities:

• Monitor and facilitate safe,neutral, and child‑focused supervised visits and exchanges
• Update program lineups and informclients of schedule changes or cancellations
• Prepare visit spaces andactivities to ensure a welcoming and appropriate environment
• Ensure all participants adhere toprogram guidelines and intervene as required
• Supervise visits (up to twohours) when volunteer visit monitors are unavailable
• Provide on‑site support andorientation to volunteer visit monitors
• Respond to client questions,concerns, and potential conflicts with professionalism
• Review visit observation notesfor accuracy and completeness by the end of the shift
• Complete and file criticalincident reports as required
• Collect program fees, issuereceipts, and maintain accurate payment records
• Maintain a tidy and safe visitsite; ensure supplies are returned and stored properly
• Prepare and photocopy documentsas required for program delivery
• Attend mandatory staff trainingand Supervised Access Program meetings
• Administer client satisfaction oroutcome surveys as directed
• Perform other related duties asrequired

You are calm,responsible, and respectful in your interactions with children, families, andcolleagues. You are comfortable working in emotionally charged environments andcan de-escalate situations while maintaining professional boundaries. You valueteamwork, accurate documentation, and client‑centered service delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Experience working with diversepopulations, including variations in culture, race, socio‑economic status,gender identity/expression, and sexual orientation
