Job summary

Jardeg is recruiting Welder Apprentices to join our maintenance team at Suncor Fort Hills. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on industrial maintenance experience while working alongside skilled Journeyperson Welders in one of Canada's leading oil sands operations.

This is a 7 on 7 off (Days and Nights) position with camp accommodations and charter flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton. Immediate start until end of December.

Qualifications

• Registered Welder Apprentice (3rd or 4th Year).
• Energy Safety Canada CSO/BSO, Aerial Work Platform, Fall Arrest, and Confined Space certifications.
• WHMIS 2015 certification.
• Class 5 Driver License with a clean three-year driving abstract.
• Mask Fit Test.
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist Journeyperson Welders with maintenance, repair, and fabrication activities.
• Support welding, grinding, fitting, and material preparation tasks.
• Read and interpret basic drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
• Follow established welding procedures and quality requirements.
• Adhere to all company, client, and site-specific safety policies.
• Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training programs.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and developing trade skills.

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and weld parts together.
