Job summary

GMP Engineering Inc. is seeking a 3D Mechanical Designer to develop models and GA drawings for process equipment, skids, and piping from input data.

You will work with Process Engineers to deliver compliant designs, verify drawings on-site, and collect field measurements to support layout plans and facility plots across bio-pharma and related industries.

Strong CAD skills and knowledge of ASME BPE standards are advantageous, with a post-secondary diploma in design/engineering required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of design and drafting experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and drawing standards.
• Knowledge of ASME BPE is a plus.

Position:

The 3D Mechanical Designer will develop models and produce general arrangement drawings of process equipment, modular process skids, interconnecting piping and facility layouts from P&ID’s, specification sheets, preliminary concepts, sketches and other design inputs.

Summary:

Working with our Process Engineers, you will be responsible for:

• 3D modelling of process skids, associated piping and miscellaneous equipment


• Generation of general arrangement (GA) drawings


• Generation of P&ID drawings


• Development of process room layouts and facility plot plans


• Effective interpretation and utilization of related design documents and drawings prepared by others, from both internal and external resources


• Assuring compliance with approved design standards to generate quality design


• On-site verification of drawing accuracy, as required


• Accurate collection of site measurements and related spatial information, as required

Skills:

• Expertise in 3D CAD software, including sound design and drafting techniques, knowledge of layer management, XREF manipulation, etc.


• Understanding of the overall process design workflow, including familiarity with typical engineering deliverables


• Familiarity with ASME BPE standards considered a strong asset


• Familiarity with building codes and other relevant regulations considered an asset

Requirements:

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Plant Design Suite or equivalent 3D modeling software


• Proficiency with Navisworks Suite (Freedom, Simulate, Manage) or equivalent


• Minimum 3 years of previous design and drafting experience, inclusive of responsibilities included in the above Summary


• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Design, Mechanical or Architectural Engineering/Technology


• Strong written, verbal and communication skills
