Job summary

Metrolinx is seeking a Coach Technician in Oshawa to diagnose, repair, and inspect buses. You will report to the Supervisor, Bus Equipment and contribute to a robust maintenance program.

The role requires 310T certification with at least one year of related experience in heavy-duty bus repair, plus valid driver's licences and ability to meet safety training requirements. Training on equipment is provided.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain certification as a Truck and Coach Technician, 310T designation.
• Minimum one year of experience as a 310T technician in transit/heavy-duty repair.
• Knowledge of heavy transit and highway bus maintenance and MTO inspection requirements.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence; ability to obtain Class C and Z endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose bus systems.
• Replace/adjust/repair defective parts and perform quality checks.
• Perform MTO inspections as part of preventive maintenance and commissioning.

Work Location: Oshawa (1002 Thornton Rd.) - but subject to change. These positions are required to work a 40 hour work week involving various shifts with various off-days.

Start Rate (Non Negotiable): $44.04/hourly

• Sunday Shift Premium: $12.19 per hour (Shifts Commencing on Sunday)
• Afternoons Shift Premium: $1.50 per hour (Shifts ending at 22:01)
• Night Shift Premium: $1.50 per hour (Shift Ending at 08:15)

Role Overview

You will report to the Supervisor, Bus Equipment. Our Bus Fleet Maintenance Office is looking for a Coach Technician to diagnose, repair and inspect buses.

Responsibilities

• Manage the diagnosis of bus systems.
• Implement replacement, adjustments or repairs to defective parts and components; and conduct quality control checks.
• Perform Ministry of Transportation (MTO) required inspections as functions of the preventative maintenance program/commissioning process.

Skills & Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain certification as a Truck and Coach Technician, 310T designation, Interprovincial/Provincial Status.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Truck and Coach Technician - 310T designation in a transit /highway bus or similar heavy-duty repair environment.
• Detailed knowledge of heavy transit and highway bus maintenance/repair, manufacturers' specifications/schematics, MTO specifications/requirements pertaining to legislated bus inspection requirements, and state of the art transit/mechanical technology.
• Must have a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's licence. Must meet corporate standard for a good driving record and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Class "C" driver's licence and "Z" endorsement.
• Must be able to obtain Ozone Depletion Card.
• Must successfully complete bus related technical courses such as air conditioning, electrical and brakes, as well as other environmental and safety training as required by corporate policy.
