Job summary

Tomlinson Group of Companies is seeking a 310T Mechanic or Apprentice to inspect, diagnose, repair and service mechanical, electrical and electronic systems on our fleet. The role runs Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Stittsville plant in Ottawa area.

You will perform maintenance, tests, and repairs on engines, transmissions, chassis, brakes, and drive trains, document work, and coordinate with supervision.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school is usually required.
• Completion of a four-year automotive service technician apprenticeship or combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and related courses would be considered for trade certification.
• Automotive service technician trade certification would be considered an asset.
• Candidates in 2nd or 3rd year apprenticeship will also be considered.
• Valid G license along with reliable transportation to get to and from work.

Responsibilities

• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
• Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups.
• Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair.
• Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools.
• Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance.
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of systems including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine and drive train, air brakes, steering, and fuel, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems

310T Mechanic

Tomlinson Ready Mix (Stittsville Plant) is currently looking to hire a 310T Mechanic or Apprentice to inspect, diagnose, repair and service mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of vehicles. This position would be working from Monday to Friday, 10:00AM to 8:00PM.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications
• Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications and tune ups
• Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair
• Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools
• Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Completion of secondary school is usually required.
• Completion of a four-year automotive service technician apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and high school, college or industry courses in automotive technology is required to be eligible for trade certification would be considered an asset but not necessary
• Automotive service technician (steering, suspension and brakes) trade certification would be considered an asset
• Candidates that are in 2nd or 3rd year apprenticeship program will also be considered
• Valid G license along with reliable transportation to get to and from work

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be available to work an afternoon shift from 10AM-8PM
• Working in an environment with loud noises such as running trucks, air breaks, horns, power tools, etc.
• Working in a garage environment with hard flooring and dust
• Bending, crouching, climbing, reaching and lifting
• Working indoors and outdoors

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The expected salary range for this position is $41 - $43.50 per hour. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience
