About the Position :

This 310T Licensed Mechanic / Technician ( T4 ) performs major and technically difficult diagnostics repairs and overhauls / rebuilds in a timely manner; ensuring quality time standards customer expectations cost guidelines and reliability goals are met. The 310T Licensed Mechanic / Technician ( T4 ) works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and mentors other Ryder technicians on a regular basis. The 310T Licensed Mechanic / Technician ( T4 ) provides the highest level of experience and expertise in vehicle diagnostics and repair. The position also plays a key role in the leadership development and training of other grade technicians. The 310T Licensed Mechanic / Technician ( T4 ) may specialize in areas such as : refrigeration electronics exhaust systems etc. and should possess a combination of extensive vehicle transportation experience ASE certifications and / or multiple Ryder Qualifications.

Type : FullTime Perm

Shifts :

Option 1 : Sunday to Wednesday 6 : 30am to 5 : 00pm;

Option 2 : 2week rotating shift : Dayshift is M to F 6 : 30am to 3 : 00pm Afternoon shift is M to F 2 : 30pm to 11 : 00pm

Essential Functions

Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties upon Tire and Wheel BrakesAir BrakesHydraulic A / C Heater & Refrigeration Cargo Handling / Transfer Liftgates Cranking System : (Electrical) Lighting System Electrical Accessories Clutch Cooling Systems Drive Axles Drive Line Diesel and Gas Engines All Engines Fuel Systems Steering and NonDriven Axles SuspensionChassis And Cab Vehicle Coupling System (PM) etc.

Coaches / mentors other level technicians

Advise shop management and other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.

Utilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available.

Works in accordance with all federal / provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e. safety dot mot)

Other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to service island support.

License Required :

  • 310T license required.
  • A valid drivers license (Class G2 or above) required.

Strong mechanical skills. Ability to demonstrate proficiency with advanced diagnostics overhaul and repair of all vehicle components and systemsPerform all entry level tasks road test vehicles as necessary

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Highly thorough and dependableAvailable for on call duty and work shift work / weekend

Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers work groups customers supervisors)

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Capable of multitasking highly organized with excellent time management skills

Detail oriented with excellent followup practices

Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills : PC Windows mouse required.

Qualifications

Vocational or Technical Certification preferred Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including :

Routine preventative maintenance which should include oil changes brake and tire work

Diagnostics and repairs including AC electrical systems

Advanced skilled level repairs to include some major engine repairs diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs required

Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred

Knowledge of and the ability to apply knowledge of computer skills : PC Windows mouse etc.
