Job summary

CJ Equipment Sales & Service is seeking a full-time Mechanic in Timmins, ON to diagnose and repair a variety of equipment including diesel pickups, heavy trucks, and excavators.

You will perform routine maintenance, inspect and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems, and ensure safety and quality standards. Occasional field service work may be required, with company trucks provided.

Qualifications

• Trade certification or apprenticeship as an automotive, heavy equipment, or heavy truck technician.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on a range of equipment.
• Experience with diesel pickups, trucks, excavators, loaders and forklifts.
• Strong attention to safety and quality standards.
• Valid driver’s license; field service experience is a plus.

CJ Equipment is an authorized dealer or subdealer for multiple brands, including Fisher & Western snowplows, BayLynx plows, Drive Equipment, BD Diesel performance accessories, Hood Hyundai heavy equipment, and ASV loaders. The company services diesel pickups, heavy hauler trucks and tractors, excavators, forklifts, and is an authorized parts and service center for Mack and Volvo trucks. With a 5,000-square-foot shop and seven mobile service trucks, CJ Equipment provides both in-shop and on-site repairs as a comprehensive maintenance and repair provider.

Role Description

The Mechanic role is a full-time, on-site position based in Timmins, ON. This role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs, and conducting routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, including diesel pickups, heavy trucks, tractors, excavators, loaders, and forklifts. The Mechanic will inspect equipment, identify faults, complete troubleshooting, and ensure that all work meets safety and quality standards. Daily tasks include using diagnostic tools, completing work orders, coordinating with service advisors and other technicians, and maintaining accurate records of parts and labor. The role may also involve occasional field service work to support customers on-site using company service trucks.

Qualifications

• Strong maintenance and preventive maintenance skills, with the ability to plan and perform routine service on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in maintenance & repair of heavy trucks, diesel equipment, and off-road machinery, including component replacement and system overhauls.
• Experience working with heavy equipment and related systems such as hydraulics, drivetrains, braking systems, and electrical components.
• Solid troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, using diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
• Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship as an automotive, heavy equipment, or heavy truck technician (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and work orders, with strong attention to detail and safety practices.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
• Valid driver’s license; experience with field service or mobile repair is considered an asset.
