Job summary

Neelands Group Limited in Burlington, ON, is seeking a 308A Sheet Metal Journeyman - G2/G1 to join our HVAC Construction team. This is a regular, full-time union position with a full union compensation package.

You will install and commission sheet metal HVAC systems, read blueprints, and work both independently and within a team. The role requires licensing and safety focus, with competitive pay and benefits offered by Neelands.

Qualifications

• 308A Sheetmetal License or Term 4/5 apprenticeship considered.
• Ozone Depletion Prevention certificate required.
• G2 Gas license, G1 is an asset.
• Valid G license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC rooftop units, gas piping, flashings, exhaust fans, kitchen hoods, grease ducts, ductless splits, radiant heaters and related frameworks.
• Interpret blueprints to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal assemblies.
• Measure and lay out material, select sheet metal gauge per specifications.
• Fasten joints and seams with appropriate fasteners and welds.
• Maximize efficiency while installing HVAC systems in a fast-paced environment.
• Startup and commissioning of HVAC equipment is an asset.
• Maintain safety during all activities and with tools used.
• Maintain good housekeeping and organization; work well independently.

The Position:

Neelands Group Limited is searching for a 308A Sheet Metal Journeyman - G2/G1 to join our HVAC Construction team at our Burlington, Ontario location. This is a regular, full-time union position with a full union compensation package.

Responsibilities:

• Proficient ability to install HVAC rooftop units, gas piping (high/ low pressure, welded) flashings, exhaust fans, kitchen hoods, grease ducts, ductless spilt units, radiant heaters, and respective supportive frameworks
• Utilize and interpret blueprints to determine how and where to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal assemblies
• Measure, mark dimensions and lay out material to be installed and select the appropriate type and gauge of sheet metal to be used in projects according to specifications
• Fasten joints and seams in sheet metal with TDC, Cleats, bolts, and welded joints
• Ensure that efficiency is maximized while installing HVAC systems while in fast-paced environment
• Start up and commissioning HVAC equipment is an asset
• Ensure making safety a priority on the job during all activities, including while using tools, installing and fabricating duct systems
• Good housekeeping and organization
• Work well independently

Qualifications:

• 308A Sheetmetal License, Term 4 and 5 apprentices will be considered
• Ozone Depletion Prevention certificate
• G2 Gas license, G1 is an asset
• Valid G license with a clean driver abstract
• English language proficiency (read/write/speak)
• Experience in brazing
• Commercial and industrial HVAC experience an asset
• Experience with supermarkets HVAC installation an asset
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods License an asset
• Must be competent in reading blueprint and electrical and electronic schematics
• Must be able to understand electrical and plumbing concepts
• Must have basic knowledge of construction methods
• Must be able to operate tools, gauges and other testing equipment for HVAC systems
