Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company in Calgary, AB is seeking a motivated Journeyman Welder for the Afternoon shift. The role involves GTAW (TIG) welding on light gauge metals, with opportunities to gain experience in FCAW and GMAW while contributing to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will read basic blueprints, follow procedures to ensure quality, and participate in maintenance and safety practices. Overtime may be required, and applicants should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work well

Qualifications

• TIG welding experience with GTAW; FCAW and GMAW exposure is a plus.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and welding specifications under supervision.
• Basic maintenance and troubleshooting knowledge for welding equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Overtime may be required on weekdays and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding setting.
• Experience operating shears and press brakes is considered an asset.

Position Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Journeyman Welder to join our team on either the Afternoon shift. In this role, you will support the fabrication team by performing GTAW (TIG) welding on light gauge materials, while continuing to develop your skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with and perform GTAW (TIG) welding on light gauge steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
• Support FCAW and GMAW welding operations as required
• Read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications
• Follow established procedures to ensure weld quality meets required standards
• Assist with preventative maintenance of welding equipment
• Inspect welds with guidance to ensure accuracy, strength, and consistency
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production targets
• Continuously develop welding skills under the guidance of Journeyman welders

Required Education & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with GTAW (TIG) welding; exposure to FCAW and GMAW is an asset
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (with supervision as needed)
• Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Willingness to work overtime (weekdays/weekends) as required
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Experience operating shears and press brakes is considered an asset
