Job summary

Atomic Cartoons Inc. in Vancouver is seeking an experienced 2D Designer for character design in a 2D production.

You will design diverse characters and props, work within the established workflow, and contribute in department meetings. The ideal candidate has prior 2D animation experience, a strong portfolio covering cartoon and realistic styles, proficiency with Maya and Blender, and the ability to work legally in Canada; BC residents preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience on a 2D animated series or feature in a character design role.
• Portfolio showing art fundamentals, structure, and design.
• Diverse styles including cartoon and realistic; strong character design samples.
• Excellent visual skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work in a team and take direction.
• Experience with Maya and Blender is an asset.
• Currently able to work legally in Canada; BC residents preferred.

Are you a 2D Designer with prior experience and a passion for character design? One of our 2D productions is seeking an experienced 2D Designer to join their team

Atomic Cartoons, a Blue Ant Studios company, is an award-winning, internationally renowned animation studio with teams in Vancouver, Ottawa, and Los Angeles. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Design diverse characters and props for a 2D production..


• Work efficiently and within the established workflow.


• Participate in department meetings as required.


• Take direction from the Art Director, Design Supervisor and Leads.

• Share ideas, collaborate and work closely with all members of the design team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Prior experience working on a 2D animated series or feature in a character design role.


• A strong portfolio that demonstrates your understanding of art fundamentals such as structure, composition, and design principles.


• A diverse portfolio that portrays a wide variety of styles; a mix of both cartoon and realistic examples.


• A portfolio that includes a wide variety of examples of character design.


• Excellent visual skills and attention to detail.


• A willingness to work in a team, take direction and have a positive attitude.


• Experience using both Maya and Blender is an asset.


• Currently legally entitled to work in Canada.


• Current BC Residents are preferred for this role.

START DATE: August 2026

Applicants must have resided within BC as of December 31, 2025 and be able to provide the appropriate supporting documents.

All Atomic employees in this role have the opportunity to work remotely within BC, artists within Vancouver and the Lower Mainland can also choose hybrid and in-studio options.

At Atomic Cartoons and Blue Ant Studios, we take into consideration a wide range of compensation factors including background, skills, location, and experience to determine competitive pay. In addition to competitive pay, this position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits including medical, GRSP, vacation pay, paid holiday break, paid leave, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Please note: This expected pay range is for British Columbia and is not applicable to locations outside of the province of British Columbia.

Wage ranges are based on a weekly rate.

Vancouver Pay Range

$1,300 - $1,700 CAD
