Job summary

Tree Trust in Ontario is seeking a Building Operator to join our Engineering Services team. This regular full-time role focuses on maintaining and operating HVAC systems, DX cooling, and building automation across campuses in Chatham-Kent.

The ideal candidate will hold a Fourth Class Stationary Engineer license or related certification, with a minimum of five years in mechanical maintenance and strong blueprint reading skills.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma is required.
• License/certification as Ontario Fourth Class Stationary Engineer or HMT or Building Operator Certification is required.
• Five years of mechanical experience with HVAC systems is required.
• Experience in maintaining HVAC with chilled water and heating systems is preferred.
• Experience in DX cooling systems maintenance is preferred.
• Experience operating Building Automation Systems is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings.
• Office software skills (Word, Excel, email) are needed.
• Training in Confined Spaces, Lock-Out, Health and Safety, TDG preferred.
• Personal transportation for service across campuses is required.
• Good attendance is essential.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)

• Secondary School Diploma
• Certificate of qualification for the Province of Ontario as a licensed Fourth Class Stationary Engineer or Certification in HMT (Hospital Maintenance Technician), or Building Operator Certification. Preference will be given for applicants with other related trade certification or license, including Electrician, Refrigeration Mechanic, etc.
• Minimum of five (5) years mechanical experience working with heating, ventilating, air conditioning and related systems.
• Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and operation of HVAC systems with emphasis on the chemical treatment and operation of chilled water and heating systems.
• Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of DX cooling systems.
• Experience in the operation of Building Automation Systems.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Office automation (Word processing, e-mail & Excel spreadsheet) and associated computer skills.
• Training in Confined Spaces, Lock-Out, Health and Safety, Transportation of Dangerous Goods preferred.
• Personal transportation to provide service response for both campuses.
• Satisfactory attendance.
