Job summary

Lakeridge Health in Oshawa/Ajax-Pickering is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Critical Care Float Pool. This regular full-time role supports the Critical Care program and requires flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends on 12-hour shifts.

The RN will participate in nursing processes, maintain records, and provide exceptional patient care across both sites. Newfoundland nursing credentials, ACLS, and BLS are valued, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Active Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required.
• B.Sc.N. degree preferred; ACLS certification preferred.
• Current BLS certification is required.

Wage Schedule: $41.150 - $58.980 per hour

Critical Care (Oshawa/Ajax) Float Pool RNs will report to the Patient Care Manager, ICU Ajax and will utilize nursing processes in providing a positive patient care experience at both sites. As a Critical Care RN on the float pool you will participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team as an individual practitioner to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current RN practices. The Float RN for the Oshawa/Ajax (LHO/LHAP) sites will maintain nursing records and perform other related duties as assigned.

Duties And Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) with the Critical Care Float (LHO/LHAP) will utilize nursing process in providing exceptional patient care. The nurse will participate as a member of the Resource Pool Nursing Team for the Critical Care site specific programs. As an individual practitioner RNs will maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. Will be responsible for maintaining the health record according to hospital policy, procedure and standards.

Qualifications

• Registration with the College of Nurse of Ontario;
• Current B.L.S.;
• B.Sc.N. and A.C.L.S preferred;
• Completion of Critical Care Nursing Certificate
• Demonstrated commitment to maintain the Quality Assurance Program as outlined by the CNO;
• Recent significant Critical Care/Intensive Care/Cardiopulmonary/Emergency experience;
• Proven cardiac rhythm interpretation and patient assessment skills;
• Demonstrated ventilator and haemodynamic monitoring, EKG interpretation, trauma nursing skills, preferred;
• Proven effective organizational, prioritization, critical thinking, time management, problem-solving and teaching skills;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
• Proven sound judgement, good observation skills, tact and empathy;
• Demonstrated ability to assume a charge/supervisory role;
• Physically capable to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with assistance;
• Demonstrated ongoing professional development activities;
• Must have a satisfactory performance record;

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service in this area
