Job summary

Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering is seeking a Pharmacy Technician on a temporary part-time basis. Reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy, you will support drug distribution, assist with unit-dose dispensing, and help ensure patient safety and accuracy in pharmaceutical products.

The role requires RPHT registration with OCP, CCAPP accredited education, knowledge of inpatient dispensing and pharmacy automation, plus strong teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

  • Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as RPHT.
  • Graduate of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program and within 6 months of registering with OCP;
  • Knowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processes—traditional and unit dose;
  • Knowledge of pharmacy automation including unit dose packaging and automated dispensing cabinets preferred;
  • Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking;
  • Proven effective verbal and written communication;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Must have satisfactory performance record; and
  • Commitment to safety programs and practices at Lakeridge Health.

Responsibilities

  • Support the technical aspects of drug distribution and ensure patient safety.
  • Assist with accuracy, quality, integrity and timeliness of pharmaceutical product release.
  • Work collaboratively with Pharmacy team under Manager supervision.

This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 1 September 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 9 September 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician will be an integral member of the Pharmacy team and will be accountable for the technical aspects of drug distribution. The Pharmacy Technician will work to ensure patient safety and for the accuracy, quality, integrity and timeliness of pharmaceutical product and release.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT);
  • Graduate of a CCAPP (Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs) Accredited Pharmacy Technician Education Program and within 6 months of registering with OCP;
  • Knowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processes- traditional and unit dose;
  • Knowledge of pharmacy automation including experience with unit dose packaging and automated dispensing cabinets preferred;
  • Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills;
  • Proven effective verbal and written communication;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Computer skills related to Microsoft Office including Word and Excel are preferred;

  • Must have satisfactory performance record; and
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
