Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education at William Konkin Elementary is seeking a Personal Attendant to assist teachers with students on the autism spectrum. This continuing, part-time role (5.5 hours per day, 5 days a week) supports both regular and alternate programs and works within a collaborative school-based team.

The position requires Grade 12, an Education Assistant certificate, POPARD training, a Class 5 driver’s license, WHMIS

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate).
• Completion of an Education Assistant Certificate Program.
• Completion of POPARD program (30 hours).
• BC Driver's License - Class 5 Full Privileged with an exemplary driving record as demonstrated by a current driver's abstract.
• WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures.
• 6 months of experience working with people with behavioral disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to teachers and other professionals in the delivery of regular or alternate programs of study for students with autism.
• Functions as an advocate for students and as a collaborative member of the school-based team.
