Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education seeks a Personal Attendant to support students with autism. The role provides assistance to teachers and works as part of the school-based team to deliver regular or alternate programs.

The position is 4 hours per day, 2 days per week (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:00–1:00) with starting date as soon as possible. A Criminal Record Check via CRRP is required after selection.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate).
• Education Assistant Certificate Program completed.
• POPARD program completed (30 hours).
• BC Driver's License - Class 5 with clean record.
• WHMIS 2015 certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to teachers in delivering programs for students with autism.
• Acts as advocate for students and collaborates with the school team.

Summary:

• Provides assistance to teachers and other professionals in the delivery of regular or alternate programs of study for students with autism.
• Functions as an advocate for students and as a collaborative member of the school-based team

Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate)
• Completion of an Education Assistant Certificate Program
• Completion of POPARD program (30 hours)
• BC Driver's License - Class 5 Full Privileged with an exemplary driving record as demonstrated by a current driver's abstract
• WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures
• 6 months of experience working with people with behavioural disorders

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a Criminal Record Check through the CRRP. Criminal Record Checks through your local RCMP detachment will not be accepted. This process is done online and can be a timely process.
