ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Are you passionate about municipal development and committed to delivering high-quality public services? We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Engineering Technologist to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical knowledge and project coordination skills in the planning, design, and implementation of development projects that support the growth and sustainability of our community.

Desirable Training And Experience
Graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Engineering Technology or related discipline, plus considerable related municipal experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of municipal design, engineering standards and land servicing requirements, including relevant bylaws, policies, regulations and permitting processes. Considerable knowledge of methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the design, construction and installation of municipal utilities such as roads, water, stormwater and sanitary systems, including soil mechanics, stabilization and erosion control. Sound knowledge of engineering practices and the interpretation of engineering plans, specifications, contract documents and related technical data. Sound knowledge of engineering and mapping software including CAD and GIS computerized mapping principles, techniques and related software.
Ability to read, interpret and apply municipal bylaws, subdivision and zoning regulations, the BC Building Code and other relevant legislation such as the Local Government Act and Community Charter. Ability to plan, research, develop, schedule, and administer capital and development projects, including preparing cost estimates, managing budgets and coordinating tendering processes, while ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets and regulatory requirements. Ability to prepare, review and interpret engineering designs, plans, and technical drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards. Ability to analyze development capacities, evaluate development impacts and prepare detailed reports with recommendations. Ability to provide technical advice, direction and interpretation of engineering and land development requirements to developers, contractors, consultants, municipal staff and the public and to effectively address inquiries and concerns. Ability to review subdivision, development, rezoning and building permit applications for compliance with municipal bylaws, grading requirements and engineering standards. Ability to conduct site inspections to ensure construction and land development projects comply with approved plans, bylaws and regulations and to investigate and resolve issues related to grading, soil stability, erosion control and development servicing. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and correspondence related to engineering projects and development applications.
REQUIRED LICENCES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATIONS
Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia or Engineer in Training (EIT) with Engineering and Geoscientist of BC. Class 5 Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a temporary full-time role for approximately 10 months which may be extended or curtailed by circumstances which could not be foreseen at the time of hiring.
