Developmental Disabilities Association invites applications for a Permanent Part Time Residential Care Worker position in Vancouver, supporting residents to live in community homes and assisting with daily living activities.

The role emphasizes teamwork, initiative, and sensitivity to residents' needs, with a weekend schedule and a competitive hourly wage under the collective agreement. Cantonese or Mandarin fluency and relevant credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services, Human Services, or Education.
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or related equivalent experience.
• Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin is required.
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance (able to perform lifts and transfers of 40lbs)
• TB Test Clearance
• Satisfactory English written and verbal communication
• Eligible to work in Canada

SCHEDULE/HRS:

Saturday 08:30-16:00; Sunday 16:00-22:00 // 13.50 hours per week

HOURLY WAGE:

$28.46 - $31.57 as per the collective agreement

The Role:

The Residential Care Worker (RCW) assists residents to live In their own homes with roommates within the community. The position ensures the residents’ physical, emotional, social, recreational, economic, educational, and/or medical needs are met. The RCW assists residents by enhancing their quality of life through activities of daily living. The RCW works both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrates the ability to take initiative and effectively problem solve using sound judgment. This position is based in a home shared by five individuals.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

• Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services, Human Services, or Education.
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or related equivalent experience.
• Experience with, or training in, areas of adaptive communication, positive behavior support, and community care is an asset.
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance (must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 40lbs)
• TB Test Clearance
• Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin is required
• Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
• Eligible to work in Canada
