Job description

Gillfor Distribution is seeking an Intermediate Accountant for an 18-month contract to cover a maternity leave beginning January 2025 through June 2026. This individual will work with the accounting team supporting the current branches across Canada. The focus of this role will be accounts payable invoicing and approvals, daily reconciling of the bank and intercompany (branch) transactions. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills are essential for success in this role.

This position requires on-site work at the Bolton office location and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.

Qualifications :

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of professionalism and integrity.
• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask.

Job Responsibilities :

• Daily reconciliation of bank and intercompany transactions.
• Monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
• Processing and approval of accounts payable invoices.
• Government remittances and sales tax filings.
• Month-end processing.
• Corresponding with external auditors.
• Maintaining capital asset schedules for depreciation and insurance.
• Property and business tax remittances and corporate registrations.
