The Ministry of Highways is seeking a motivated Equipment Operator to join the La Ronge Section within the Operations and Maintenance Division. Candidates must possess knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and servicing of heavy equipment, including motor graders, tandem trucks, loaders, snowplows, and related equipment. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, fuel, and lubrication systems is required, along with an understanding of workplace safety, traffic control, occupational health, hazardous materials, and dangerous goods practices. Strong communication, critical thinking, interpersonal, digital, self-management, and health and safety skills are essential. A valid Class 1A drivers licence is required, and candidates selected for an interview must provide a current drivers abstract.
Duties include coordinating daily crew assignments, monitoring equipment use and compliance with operating procedures, operating and maintaining heavy equipment, performing highway maintenance and winter snow and ice removal, and maintaining operational records and equipment logs.
