Job summary

The Government of Saskatchewan's Ministry of Community Safety seeks permanent part-time Correctional Officers at the Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre in Yorkton. This role supports safer communities by supervising offenders, aiding rehabilitation and reintegration, and maintaining facility safety and security within an interdisciplinary team.

The Ministry of Community Safety is seeking dedicated individuals for permanent part-time Correctional Officer opportunities at the Whitespruce Provincial Training Centre in Yorkton. Successful candidates will receive a paid 11-week Induction Training Program and work within a collaborative, professional environment focused on public safety and offender reintegration.


The ideal candidate is accountable, adaptable, inclusive and committed to public service excellence. You will be comfortable working directly with adult offenders from diverse backgrounds, exercise sound judgment in challenging situations and work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Strong communication, interpersonal, decision-making and critical thinking skills are essential.


Candidates must have knowledge of the Canadian criminal justice system and human behaviour. A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence (or equivalent) and a valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificate are required prior to training. Relevant qualifications may include a university degree in the social sciences, a law enforcement diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Responsibilities include supervising offenders, supporting rehabilitation and reintegration planning, facilitating programming, assessing risk, maintaining facility safety and security, applying legislation and procedures, and responding to incidents when required.
