Job summary

The Near North District School Board is hiring a 1.0 Temporary Educational Assistant for the West Region Flex, with placement anticipated at MacTier Public School. The role is itinerant, delivering direct support to high needs students across Parry Sound and surrounding communities.

Reporting to the Principal of Special Education, you will work with classroom teachers, therapists and central teams to implement programming and transitions, requiring a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in social services.
• Experience with high-needs students preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to high needs students in various settings.
• Coordinate with classroom teachers and therapists to implement programs.
• Assist with student transitions between programs and settings and travel within the region.
• Travel across West Region to assigned schools as needed.

First placement is anticipated to be at MacTier Public School

Location: West Region: Parry Sound and Surrounding Communities including Britt & MacTier

RegionalFlex Role:Reporting to the Principal of Special Education, this itinerant position, will involve providing direct support to high needs students in all areas of exceptionality moving into the region mid-year or transitioning from one program or setting to another. School placements will be determined by Special Education Coordinators and Principals.Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle required.

Qualifications:

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Experience working with a variety of student exceptionalities including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities


• Broad knowledge of a variety of support strategies includingABA(Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems,CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions) and Augmentative Communication


• Demonstrated ability to effectively support students in transitionand/orimplement programmingin consultation withclassroomteacher, central behavioural support team and respective therapistsi.e. speech, sensory, occupational,physiotherapy


• Knowledge and respect for Indigenous teachings and culture


• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team
  

Rate of Pay: $28.44 per hour - $33.38 per hour
