Responsibilities

• Support students in an Early Learning Kindergarten classroom.

• Assist with transitions and programming in consultation with teachers and therapists.

• Collaborate with the central behavioural support team and related therapists.

The Educational Assistant duties of this position are likely to include, but are not limited to, working with students with autism, behaviouralexceptionalities,physicaland developmentaldisabilities.The positionwillinvolve working as a team member in a special education program, delivering alternative program goals, therapy goals, sensory breaks, toileting support, communication needs, and outings.

This position will be primarily supporting students in an Early Learning Kindergarten classroom.

Qualifications:

• Two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in the social services field

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Experience working with a variety of student exceptionalities including but not limited to: medically complex, autism, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities
• Broad knowledge of a variety of support strategies includingABA(Applied Behavioural Analysis), Behaviour Management Systems,CPS (Collaborative Proactive Solutions) and Augmentative Communication
• Demonstrated ability to effectively support students in transitionand/orimplement programmingin consultation withclassroomteacher, central behavioural support team and respective therapistsi.e. speech, sensory, occupational,physiotherapy
• Knowledge and respect for Indigenous teachings and culture
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team
  

Rate of Pay: $28.44 per hour
