We are seeking a pragmatic and visionary technology executive to serve as Vice President, Infrastructure and IT Operations, responsible for leading enterprise-wide technology operations, infrastructure, and cybersecurity across a multi-entity, multi-cloud environment. This individual will take a hands-on, roll-up-the-sleeves approach to drive excellence in service delivery, cloud operations, platform reliability, and cybersecurity while ensuring cost efficiency and operational scalability to support multiple mutual insurance companies.
This role demands strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS & Azure), observability, SRE practices, and cybersecurity, along with deep experience in shared services models for multi-tenant environments in the insurance or financial services industry. VP will lead geographically dispersed teams and drive automation, monitoring, and secure infrastructure-as-code practices.
This role will demonstrate a heightened sense of urgency, balancing strategic priorities with meticulous planning, flawless execution, and a consistent ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. They will be expected to proactively identify and solve problems, demonstrate attention to detail, and serve as a role model in execution and ownership.
Accountabilities:
Infrastructure & Cloud Strategy
- Define and execute a resilient and cost-effective infrastructure strategy across public cloud (AWS & Azure), private cloud, and on-prem environments.
- Build scalable multi-tenant infrastructure supporting P&C mutual insurance clients with minimal rework and centralized operations.
Cybersecurity & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure security-by-design principles across all infrastructure and operational processes.
- Oversee end-to-end security posture including:
- Infrastructure and Network Security
- Cloud Security (IAM, encryption, security baselines)
- Application & Data Security
- Security Operations (SecOps), threat detection, and incident response
- Lead regulatory compliance across frameworks such as NAIC, NYDFS, SOC 2, CCPA etc.
Observability, Reliability & Automation
- Implement robust site observability capabilities including log analytics, tracing, telemetry, and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, Grafana).
- Drive reliability engineering with well-defined SLOs, SLIs, and automated remediation runbooks.
- Establish best-in-class monitoring, alerting, and response pipelines across all environments.
DevSecOps & Infrastructure-as-Code
- Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Helm, Ansible for consistent, secure, and rapid provisioning.
- Build a modern DevSecOps pipeline for continuous integration and delivery of secure infrastructure and platform updates.
- Promote containerization strategies using Kubernetes (AKS, EKS) to improve scalability and portability.
ITSM, Service Desk & End User Computing
- Lead ITSM practices aligned with ITIL standards, leveraging platforms such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or equivalent.
- Oversee enterprise service desk, end user devices, identity & access management, and collaboration platforms (e.g., M365, Zoom, Teams).
- Optimize user experience and support through automation, knowledge bases, and tiered support models.
Production Operations & Support
- Ensure 24x7 operational continuity for mission-critical systems with robust DR/BCP, incident response, and capacity planning.
- Manage runbooks, post-incident reviews, and root cause analysis frameworks to ensure continuous improvement.
- Model a hands-on leadership style, stepping in where needed to resolve critical issues, balance competing priorities, and lead by example in urgency and accountability.
Post-M&A Integration
- Lead seamless onboarding and integration of IT infrastructure for acquired mutual insurance companies.
- Standardize and scale infrastructure components and security controls across new and existing entities.
KPI, Metrics & Performance
- Define and report on operational metrics including uptime, MTTR, SLA adherence, security incident resolution, and infrastructure cost optimization.
- Continuously raise the bar on operational maturity and performance visibility.
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 7+ years in senior infrastructure or operations leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in:
- Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
- Security frameworks (NIST, SOC 2, ISO27001)
- Infrastructure-as-Code (ex. Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Container orchestration (ex. Kubernetes, Helm)
- Monitoring and observability tools (ex. Datadog, ELK Stack, Grafana, Prometheus)
- CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines
- ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, BMC)
- Collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom)
- Proven success in leading multi-entity shared infrastructure models and delivering measurable cost savings through modernization and automation.
- Experience working in regulated industries (Insurance, Financial Services) with a strong grasp of compliance obligations.
- Strong technical grounding combined with executive presence and stakeholder management capability.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in high-pressure environments, prioritize effectively across concurrent initiatives, and consistently deliver with speed, accuracy, and precision.
Compensation:
- $200,000 - $250,000 commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility
