Essential Functions:
Leads the strategic direction, ownership, and execution of a major Claims line of business, as well as other teams and/or functional areas that provide support across all Claims lines of business at EMC
Collaborates with claims leadership and subject matter experts to optimize workflows, enhance consistency, and drive improved claims outcomes and accountability
Owns and drives the enterprise-wide strategy for expense and vendor management within assigned teams, ensuring alignment with financial goals, operational efficiency, and service excellence
Leads the application and governance of EMC’s reserving philosophy, ensuring disciplined reserve practices that support financial stability, regulatory compliance, and actuarial integrity
Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with agents and regional leadership to ensure alignment on claims reporting practices, proactively addresses challenges, and shares performance insights that drive mutual success
Leads strategic collaboration with Claims leadership and Regional Vice Presidents to identify, prioritize, and execute enterprise-wide claims improvement initiatives that enhance performance, consistency, and customer experience
Leads cross-functional collaboration with corporate departments to uncover operational inefficiencies, align on enterprise-wide priorities, and drive strategic improvements that elevate Claims performance
Leads, sponsors, and champions high-impact departmental and enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring alignment with EMC’s strategic priorities and delivering measurable business value
Oversees regulatory compliance across all assigned operations, ensuring adherence to state and federal requirements, and leads the development of timely, accurate responses to Insurance Department inquiries, reporting obligations, and market conduct examinations in close coordination with corporate compliance and legal partners
Provides executive oversight of assigned major Claims line of business and its supporting teams, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery and customer experience across all touchpoints
Develops and executes operational strategies in partnership with senior Claims leadership, establishing clear performance expectations, timelines, and accountability
Defines and enforces service standards and operational procedures that drive consistency, efficiency, and measurable outcomes across the organization
Leads and conducts department reviews and evaluations to determine process and procedural improvement opportunities and monitors department cost effectiveness
Oversees the assessment of vendor relationships, working with applicable stakeholders to ensure partnerships align with strategic goals, performance expectations, and cost-effectiveness
Provides strategic oversight of claims technology initiatives, working closely with internal teams, consultants, and subject matter experts to evaluate emerging tools and platforms that enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and long-term business value
Maintains ultimate accountability for resolution of complex claims issues, ensuring escalated matters are addressed appropriately by empowered teams while upholding organizational standards, compliance, and reputational integrity
Provides executive accountability for enterprise-level initiatives impacting Claims, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, financial goals, and operational priorities
Collaborates with senior executives and Regional Vice Presidents to translate strategic objectives into actionable claims initiatives that drive consistency and performance across all lines of business
Achieves results through team members to support planning, execution, and monitoring of strategic and operational initiatives that influence claims outcomes
Effectively develops and grows internal talent – a priority in EMC’s culture
Successfully attracts great new talent where needed to fill gaps in expertise or raise the bar of performance

Education and Experience:
The education and experience below are required for the job unless labelled as preferred:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or insurance related field
Juris doctorate preferred
Ten years of progressively responsible claims leadership experience in assigned line of business or related experience
Insurance designations preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Superior knowledge of the theory and practice of the claim function
Excellent experience of good judgment in the areas of claims legal liability and coverage
Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate in the administration of claims and losses
Thorough knowledge of insurance contracts, medical terminology and legal aspects of court procedures affecting claims legal liability for all lines of insurance
Strong ability to understand and evaluate technical aspects of all departmental areas
Excellent knowledge of computers and claims systems
Exceptional organizational and written and verbal skills
Advanced analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities
Occasional travel; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards is required if driving
The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within $182,982- $249,764. range. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, includingrelevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
