Technical Sales Representative, Porto Alegre

Reporting to the General Manager - Brazil, the Technical Sales Representative develops new business, manages existing accounts, and provides technical support for the full Valco Melton product line throughout southern Brazil. This position will be responsible for a territory encompassing the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro.

The Technical Sales Representative will work from a home office in the Porto Alegre region with extended support from the company’s international sales/service network. Candidates will need to report into the Valco Melton office in São Paulo on occasion. Candidates must also be able to travel regularly throughout the territory as needed (up to 75% travel).

This is a highly autonomous role that provides an opportunity to work with an innovative, robust, and diverse product line. Ideal for technically-minded individuals who have a strong aptitude for developing new business and a willingness to take on the challenges of a competitive market space.

Note : applicants are not required to be fluent in English, but must have business-level proficiency to communicate with international colleagues in English.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Find and develop new customers across all industries within assigned territory.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing clients to promote upgrades and new solutions.
  • Effectively communicate, present and demonstrate the product solutions of the company.
  • Provide competent technical and installation support when required.
  • Effectively interact and sell at all levels of a corporation from the CEO/President to the manufacturing floor.
  • Strive to consistently meet or exceed quota.
  • Attend trade show events when relevant.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Customer Service, and Technical Service Departments to provide customer with excellent support at all levels.

Required/Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong technical sales ability or background.
  • Technical studies (electrical/mechanical) and/or 3-5 years’ industry experience.
  • Ability to work at a high level without daily supervision.
  • Experience selling to manufacturer-based companies.
  • Experience selling to the Food & Beverage, Corrugated, or Folding Carton industries (preferred).
  • Fluent in Portuguese.
  • Driver's license and own vehicle are required.
