This position is responsible for the procurement of medium to large equipment packages, ensuring adherence to Supply Chain procedures and alignment with project-specific requirements. The role involves managing the full procurement cycle — from requisition to delivery — while working closely with internal departments, suppliers, and logistics to guarantee timely, cost-effective, and compliant operations. It also includes contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and continuous contribution to process improvement and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Responsible for the procurement of medium to large equipment packages, in accordance with SC procedures.
- Ensure compliance with BW Energy’s SC procedures and project-specific Procurement Plans.
- Manage procurement, expediting, and supply chain control from requisition to onboard delivery.
- Liaise with freight forwarders and logistics to optimize deliveries and minimize freight/customs costs.
- Ensure quality and suitability of equipment/spares in coordination with relevant departments.
- Apply thorough cost control throughout procurement activities.
- Issue Purchase Orders in IFS and perform material receiving when required.
- Monitor changes in the supplier market; maintain balanced contact with local and global suppliers.
- Participate in supplier meetings and contribute to supplier relationship development.
- Maintain commodity knowledge and oversee the development of the Bidders List.
- Support implementation and understanding of frame agreements and identify needs for new agreements.
- Prepare and issue RFQs.
- Evaluate bids, perform clarifications, and negotiate with suppliers.
- Analyze TCO / Life Cycle Costs and recommend awards.
- Coordinate with Legal on contract terms and supplier qualifications.
- Participate in the negotiation and implementation of strategic contracts (short, long-term or MSAs).
- Monitor supplier production schedules and ensure delivery capability.
- Identify and mitigate risks to delivery schedules.
- Maintain IFS database accuracy; liaise quarterly with requisitioners to validate open requests.
- Prepare regular Procurement Status Reports (PSR).
- Ensure compliance with E&P policies, internal controls, and applicable tax regulations.
- Guarantee the implementation of contracts for oil lifting operations.
- Contribute to global SC initiatives and bid inputs for new contracts.
- Support alignment of local SC practices with global best practices.
- Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice adoption.
- Ensure compliance with local content requirements.
Education
- Education / degree within Purchasing and/or Logistics Administration will be preferred;
- Long relevant experience may replace educational requirements.
Experience
- Ideally, 8 years of working experience within purchase, preferably from Supply Chain within the oil & gas or marine related industry;
- Previous experience with ERP systems.
Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of the local supply market for the oil & gas industry and general knowledge to the international oil & gas supplier market;
- Familiar with the terminology of the oil & gas industry;
- Good understanding/knowledge of ERP systems;
- Technical knowledge/understanding of the oil & gas industry is an advantage.
- Advanced English (oral and written);
- Understanding and knowledge of the technical, contractual, and commercial issues related to the design and engineering of Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading vessels is an advantage.
