An established industry player in the finance sector is seeking a seasoned Tax Manager to lead a dynamic team. This role involves navigating complex tax legislation and implementing effective tax strategies within the Oil & Gas sector. Qualificações

  • 10+ years of experience in a Tax Department, preferably in Oil & Gas.
  • Strong knowledge of Brazilian tax legislation and compliance.

Experience: Minimum 10 years

• TEP BR was selected for Large Taxpayers Group under “Special Tax & Economic Monitoring”;

• Fiscal environment is heavy, complicated, and unstable (expectations for a Brazilian Tax Reform on Income Taxes, Pillar 2, New Transfer Pricing Rules, and Implementation of the Tax Reform on Consumption Taxes);

• ERP update (new version of transactions and reports that are key for tax calculation and compliance);

• TEPBR acts as Operator on both Exploration and Production assets;

Job dimensions:

• Affiliate with an average production of 135 kboed, 1.3 G$ RON, 640 M$ Capex per year, and 10 G$ CMO (ref. BU2023);

• Assets under different contractual frameworks (Concession - 12 / PSC - 4), covering all stages of the E&P lifecycle (Exploration - 9 / Development - 2 / Production - 5), both operated (6) and operated by others (10);

• Lead a team of 2 direct reports (Tax Coordinators) and 10 indirect reports (tax assistants, including 4 TTE staff and 6 TAS);

• Conduct 3 SOX controls;

Activities

Support the Tax Manager by:

  1. Defining criteria for CIT/PIS/COFINS/ICMS/ISS/SPT/Royalties payments;
  2. Performing studies to implement tax optimizations;
  3. Defining criteria for identifying, monitoring, and compensating tax credits;
  4. Determining responses to tax inspections and audits;
  5. Establishing procedures for tax books, files, and reports in accordance with Brazilian legislation;
  6. Creating procedures and controls for tax routines aligned with SOX, audits, antifraud, and anti-corruption guidelines;
  7. Supporting Finance departments (Accounting, Treasury, B&P, etc.) on tax matters;
  8. Ensuring Transfer Pricing compliance and maintaining defense files;
  9. Providing support for Budget and Long-Term Planning exercises;
  10. Verifying inventory accuracy for tax purposes;
  11. Staying updated with tax legislation and jurisprudence, disseminating relevant information;
  12. Assisting with Customs/Freight activities for compliance;
  13. Supporting SAP and Mastersaf implementations/alterations;
  14. Acting as focal point for Tax Reform implementation.

Accountabilities:

  1. Coordinating team activities to deliver accurate information and reports within deadlines;
  2. Managing, mentoring, and coaching tax staff to optimize performance and maintain a positive environment;
  3. Keeping the team updated on tax legislation and jurisprudence;
  4. Ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures;
  5. Managing timely and correct tax payments to avoid penalties;
  6. Communicating impacts of legislative changes to stakeholders;
  7. Supporting stakeholders on corporate and indirect taxes;
  8. Identifying opportunities to minimize tax burden;
  9. Collaborating with Litigation team to ensure accurate tax risk reporting.
Candidate Profile

• University degree in Accounting and Law;

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Tax Department (Big-4 experience is a plus);

• Strong experience in Oil & Gas sector;

• Advanced English proficiency;

• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines;

• Managerial and business skills;

• High level of autonomy.
