Amazon in São Paulo, Brazil is seeking a Tax Analyst to own end-to-end tax engine configurations across Brazil's tax landscape. You will troubleshoot production issues, ensure compliance with PIS, COFINS, ICMS, IPI, and ISS, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the upcoming IBS/CBS reforms.
You will leverage AI tools to optimize tax calculations and processes. The role requires experience in tax/finance, fluent English, and knowledge of data-focused tools like Python/SQL.
Tax Engine is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Analyst to join our team in São Paulo. In this role, you will own end-to-end tax engine configurations, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure tax compliance across Brazil's complex indirect tax landscape - including readiness for the upcoming Tax Reform (IBS/CBS). You will work with tax technology platforms, manage tax rules and rate configurations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate tax calculations impacting millions of transactions. You will also have the opportunity to leverage AI tools to drive productivity and innovation in your day-to-day work.
Configure, test, and deploy tax engine rules and rate updates for Brazilian indirect taxes (PIS, COFINS, ICMS, IPI, ISS).
Support the implementation and configuration of Brazil's Tax Reform (IBS and CBS) within the tax engine.
Troubleshoot and resolve tax calculation issues through structured root-cause analysis, driving each case to resolution or escalation.
Validate configurations through testing tools and ensure quality through peer review and pre-deployment sign-off.
Monitor tax engine health through regression testing and proactive error detection.
Communicate transparently - provide accurate, verifiable status updates on deployments and support cases.
Collaborate with the team - participate in meetings, share knowledge, and flag blockers early.
Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and triage processes.
Bachelor's degree
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
Speak, write, and read fluently in English at C1 level or above
Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar
Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
Maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g. Vertex) experience
