Position Overview

The Tax & Accounting Manager role sits within the Financial Control team, reporting directly to the Head of Treasury, Risk and Compliance, and is based out of our São Paulo, Brazil office. The primary focus will be on Brazilian financial management, including accounting, tax compliance, and regulatory financial reporting for our MVNO operations in Brazil. The role will oversee financial operations for our registrations in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. As 1GLOBAL expands its MVNO operations in the Brazilian market, this role offers exposure to a wide range of financial areas—accounting, tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and financial planning—within the complex Brazilian telecommunications regulatory environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional with telecommunications experience looking to develop in a fast-growing, multinational environment with diverse and evolving financial and regulatory challenges.

The successfully hired candidate will receive onboarding and training in Lisbon, Portugal; gaining valuable skills while experiencing one of Europe’s most dynamic and renowned cities.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Manage all accounting operations for 1GLOBAL's Brazilian entities, ensuring compliance with Brazilian accounting standards (including CPC/IFRS) and practices.
• Prepare financial statements for Brazilian operations in accordance with local requirements.
• Coordinate with global finance teams to ensure alignment with group reporting and audit requirements.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors for Brazilian operations, including statutory audits.

Tax Compliance & Filing

• Manage tax registrations and compliance for both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro operations, including state registrations (Inscrição Estadual) in both states.
• Prepare and file all federal tax returns (including IRPJ, CSLL, PIS, COFINS), state tax returns (ICMS), and municipal tax returns (ISS) in Brazil.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of ancillary tax obligations such as ECD, ECF, EFD-ICMS/IPI, EFD-Contribuições, SPED, and DIRF.
• Ensure compliance with Brazilian transfer pricing rules for intercompany transactions.
• Stay current with Brazilian tax legislation changes and ensure company compliance, particularly with telecommunications-specific tax regulations.

Regulatory Financial Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Anatel financial reporting requirements for MVNOs, including periodic financial submissions.
• Oversee payment and management of TFI (Installation Inspection Fee) and TFF (Operation Inspection Fee) for activated devices.
• Coordinate financial compliance with Regulamento Geral de Direitos do Consumidor de Serviços de Telecomunicações (RGC).
• Ensure proper financial record-keeping for regulatory audits and inspections.
• Coordinate with legal and regulatory teams on financial aspects of telecommunications compliance.

Must Have

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CRC - Conselho Regional de Contabilidade).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial roles in Brazil.
• Strong knowledge of Brazilian accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Experience managing tax registrations and compliance across multiple Brazilian jurisdictions, specifically São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
• Proven experience with Brazilian tax reporting systems including SPED (Sistema Público de Escrituração Digital).
• Fluency in Portuguese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience with mobile network operators or other telecommunications service providers in Brazil.
• Experience with Brazilian telecommunications taxation specifics, including FUST and FUNTEL contributions.
• Knowledge of NetSuite and Vertex.
