We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to be a technical leader and a "finder" of opportunities across our engineering organization. At VTEX, a Staff Engineer doesn’t just solve complex problems; they anticipate them.

In this role, you will solve ambiguous problems involving multiple systems within a vertical domain, ensuring architectural consistency and scalability for our global platform. You won’t just maintain a piece of the machine; you will shape the technical direction, define engineering patterns, and create a long-term technical vision that aligns with our business objectives. Your work will involve leading cross-team design reviews and unblocking strategic initiatives through influence and expert guidance.

• System-wide Architect: You have extensive experience building backend systems for large-scale applications and are comfortable designing scalable solutions that involve complex, multi-system dependencies.
• Technical Visionary: You can translate business goals into a clear technical vision and are capable of defining the "golden paths" and engineering practices that other teams will follow.
• Multiplier of Talent: You are a strong delegator who knows how to scale execution by empowering others. You have experience mentoring multiple engineers and influencing decision-making across several teams.
• Language Agnostic: You are proficient in multiple programming languages and can choose the right tool for the job (although our primary language is C#).
• Strategic Communicator: You can effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in English and Portuguese.
• Curious & Hands-on: You stay up to date with market trends and are intentional about using AI, LLMs, and automation to boost team productivity and code quality.
