SRE / DevOps Engineer (REMOTE)

to work remotely for a client in the US. This is a position with a global leader in consulting, digital transformation, technology, and engineering services present in nearly 50 countries. The end client is in the Telecom area (internet, mobile, cable TV provider). Initial assignment until December.

Job location

Remote, work from home anywhere in Brazil, following US Eastern time.

All interviews will be in English only (must be professionally fluent).

Responsibilities:

1. Production support: Triage of production systems, understanding analysis, and driving toward resolution while participating in large group discussions.
2. Perform impact analysis on infrastructure and applications.
3. Perform tasks manually or through automation.
4. Perform required deployment verifications after application or service deployments.
5. Deep dive into Java code to identify possible fixes for production issues.
6. Troubleshoot production issues and drive resolution bridges.
7. Collaborate with team members across different states and countries.

Requirements:

1. At least 5 years of experience supporting Java applications/services hosted in Linux environments.
2. Ability to perform cluster-level administration on K8s platform.
3. Creating and maintaining scripts for monitoring and alerts on K8s platform.
4. Comfortable with kubectl / YAML.
5. Understanding of Docker, with good experience in writing Dockerfiles.
6. Experience with Ansible, including playbook creation and software installation roles.
7. Knowledge of CloudFormation and Terraform.
8. Experience with monitoring tools like New Relic and Splunk.
9. Application performance tuning, including load testing and analyzing Java heap and thread dumps.
10. Understanding of Jenkins and pipeline analysis.
11. Support and troubleshooting experience with Redhat Enterprise Linux, Amazon Linux, and Windows 2012/2016.
12. Nice-to-have tools & technologies: Hashicorp Vault, Consul; Middleware like JBoss EAP, JBoss Fuse; Elasticsearch; AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM Roles, DynamoDB.
