Job summary

Platform Science, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Video team. You will take technical ownership of our video product, architect its evolution, and drive the roadmap to ensure stability, scalability, and performance.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven track record leading design & delivery of large-scale systems.
• Backend expertise in Kotlin/Java or Node.js and scalable APIs.
• Frontend experience with React or Angular.
• Relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
• Experience deploying cloud-native apps on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Commitment to quality and test automation (Unit/Integration/TDD).
• Advanced/fluent English, verbal & written.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and maintenance of large-scale Video solutions.

Platform Science is seeking a Senior Software Engineerto join our Video team. In this high-impact role, you willtake technical ownershipof our existing video product, a critical component of our platform. You will not just maintain and enhance this product; you willarchitect its evolution, driving the technical roadmap to ensure the stability,scalability, and performance of a core offering.
Your work will directly impact road safety for our customers, making a difference in their daily operations. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected tolead by example, mentor other engineers, and drive innovation to increase operational efficiency.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenanceof our complex, large-scale Video solutions, setting the technical standards for customer experience and reliability.
• Architect and implementrobust, scalable new features and services to evolve our Video offering, aligning technical strategy with global market expectations.
• Champion and enforcesoftware engineering best practices across the team, driving a culture of quality, high-performance code, and CI/CD.
• Mentor and guidejunior and mid-level engineers, providing technical oversight, constructive code reviews, and support for their career growth.
• Own the operational healthof the video platform, including monitoring, incident response, and driving continuous improvements in performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering leadsto define the technical roadmap, break down complex initiatives, and ensure successful delivery.

Required Experience

• 5-8+ yearsof professional software engineering experience, with aproven track record of leading the design and delivery of complex, scalable systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills(verbal and written), with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and mentor team members.
• Deep, hands‑on expertisein backend development (Kotlin/Java, Node.js, or similar),designing and scaling resilient APIs.
• Strong experiencein modern frontend development (React, Angular, or similar).
• Proficientwith relational databases and data modeling (Postgres, MySQL, etc.).
• Extensive experience building, deploying, and operating cloud‑native applications(AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Astrong commitment to qualityand deep experience with test automation strategies (Unit, Integration, TDD principles).
• Advanced/fluent english skills: verbal and written

Will be considered a plus

• Experience withdesigning and implementingEvent-Drivenarchitectures.
• Production experiencewith high‑throughput streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Expertisewith non‑relational databases and caching strategies (ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Redis).
• Deep knowledgeof serverless computing patterns (Lambda, SQS, Step Functions).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar).
• Holistic quality assurance experience (End‑to‑End, Performance, etc.).
• Experience with video processing, streaming protocols (HLS, DASH), or telematics data.
