Job Description

Position Title: Sr. Manager, Global Health & Safety Operations

Department: Quality, Environmental Health and Safety

Entity: Recurrent Energy

Reports To: Sr. Director, Global Quality, EHS, and Innovation

Position Summary:

You will provide leadership and guidance to the H&S team globally, overseeing activities and performance for both EPC and O&M. You will establish strong working relationships with regional and site leadership teams and employees. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director, you will lead sustainable health and safety programs, incorporating effective operating processes and keeping abreast of leading practices in health and safety standards. Your responsibilities include evaluating safety practices, conducting site inspections, leading training programs, and implementing fire emergency response protocols.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage fire emergency response procedures, including developing and implementing emergency response plans (ERP), and coordinating with local fire departments and emergency services.
  2. Implement 24/7 emergency phone support and response teams.
  3. Develop and maintain a “Safety & Environmental Dashboard” to track safety and environmental incidents, in collaboration with the Sr. Global Q&E Manager.
  4. Act as the lead during global incident responses, ensuring thorough investigations, external communication, and corrective actions.
  5. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety laws, promoting safe work practices, and developing safety training programs focusing on fire and electrical safety.
  6. Review and update Battery Safety guidelines based on industry developments and field feedback.
  7. Oversee incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
  8. Conduct site inspections and lead safety training sessions for managers and employees.
  9. Stay informed about new legislation affecting the renewable energy industry’s EHS standards.
  10. Establish and test emergency preparedness procedures worldwide.
  11. Report safety metrics, incidents, and compliance status to senior management and authorities.
  12. Lead and mentor regional H&S teams across different regions, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
  13. Ensure consistent safety standards across all regions and evaluate regional safety performance.
  14. Adjust regional safety strategies to align with global safety goals and improve safety culture.
  15. Monitor regulatory compliance, communicate findings, and implement corrective solutions.
  16. Analyze monthly H&S statistics to identify areas for continuous improvement.
  17. Travel as needed, including weekends and overnight stays, and maintain flexible working hours.
  18. Support the implementation of ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 certifications.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial health and safety or Fire Protection.
  • At least 10 years of practical H&S experience, with expertise in industrial safety, electrical and chemical engineering, preferably in power plant construction.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety laws across all US states.
  • Experience coordinating with fire departments and conducting HAZMAT training is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Hazard & Risk Assessments and Fire Response Training.
  • Experience in Emergency Response Planning, including BESS emergencies and ancillary equipment failures.
  • Strong understanding of environmental protection, pollution control, and waste management regulations.
  • Computer literacy, excellent training, leadership, communication, and writing skills.
  • Fluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
