Job Description: We are searching for the best talent for Sr Legal Manager.
Purpose
This attorney is a member of the team in charge of legal matters in Brazil for the Medical Devices Business and One Vision Business. He/she should be based in São Paulo, Brazil and will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and counsel in all areas of law, to further the interests of the business globally, while protecting the company’s rights, interests and reputation. The attorney will advise management on general legal matters, lead a team, as well as participate in Business Committees’ meetings as needed.
Responsibilities
- Support and advise on complex legal matters for the Medical Device Businesses, by partnering with business and functional internal clients, and with outside counsel, and by supporting business opportunities while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, industry guidelines and internal policies.
- Provide legal support to commercial teams and functional areas, on projects and initiatives that are deployed by or for the Medical Devices Businesses, including preparing, reviewing negotiating and implementing complex and innovative commercial agreements, as well as providing strategic legal advice on a wide range of proposed business initiatives and projects in different areas such as sales and marketing, tenders, regulatory affairs, ethics and compliance, privacy, indirect channel management and mergers & acquisitions.
- Provide legal counseling to the business leaders, and eventually participate in Board and Corporate Committees Meetings as needed.
- Manage litigation process related to civil, environmental, regulatory and criminal matters, with support of outside counsel.
- Participate in the litigation process and preventive actions related to tax and labor matters, providing documents and information to the cross-sector team, participating in the definition of the case strategy.
- Identify and advocate for dispute resolution opportunities to defend the company's interests; perform managerial review of the litigation portfolio and identify how to prevent future risks.
- Preserve and Build Our Credo Culture: be an active leader to ensure that our Credo culture continues to be the tone at the top and be a highly efficient people leader managing performance and development of employees under his/her direction.
- Manage outside counsel relationships and the departmental budget related to Medical Devices. When needed, direct the work of outside counsel, define project objectives, and manage projects.
- Serve on projects with multi-disciplinary teams and committees to assess and implement special/significant projects in the local business and/or J&J Global and LATAM Law Department.
- Monitor changes and trends in the Medical Devices industry, including competitive developments and government actions, to identify possible business opportunities and threats.
- Provide appropriate training to local teams and external stakeholders on key legal topics, such as essentials of contract law, competition law, anti-corruption laws, public procurement and ethics and compliance, the latter in collaboration with Health Care Compliance.
- Review and provide legal advice on SOPs and Corporate Policies; review and provide legal advice on marketing materials and internal communications; create and improve templates and processes.
Qualifications / Requirements
Required Minimum Education: Law degree
Required Years of Related Experience: at least 10 years of relevant legal experience
- Lawyer with at least 10 years’ of experience.
- Extensive knowledge on general corporate law.
- Fluent in English.
