• Strong backend or full-stack software engineering background with hands-on AI engineering experience.
• Proven experience delivering AI agents or LLM-powered features to production with real users.
• Ability to own the complete production lifecycle, including IaC and CI/CD.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS/Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS).
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript and using LLM APIs.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr AI Engineer (Backend & Platform) based in Brazil.

We are seeking a senior AI engineer with a strong backend or full-stack background and hands‑on experience building and operating AI agents in production. In this remote contract role, you will take ownership of the entire agent development lifecycle, from translating early concepts into technical specifications to deploying and monitoring production‑ready solutions. You will work on AI‑powered products supporting the trucking and fleet compliance industry, using extensive toll, inspection, safety, and vehicle data. Your work will directly influence business performance, revenue, safety, and regulatory compliance. The environment is highly autonomous, fast‑paced, and focused on shipping early, learning from real users, and continuously improving engineering practices. You will collaborate with product, support, and engineering stakeholders while using coding agents as a core part of your development workflow.

Accountabilities:

• Design, build, and deploy AI agents end to end, from initial requirements through production release.

• Deliver early iterations and continuously improve solutions based on feedback from real users.

• Collaborate with product, support, and engineering stakeholders to translate business challenges into clear technical requirements.

• Own the infrastructure and delivery lifecycle of AI agents, including infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and deployments.

• Monitor production systems, evaluate agent performance, manage costs, and address failures.

• Establish and promote best practices in agentic engineering to improve team productivity and delivery quality.

• Use coding agents as primary development tools, defining tasks, reviewing generated code, validating outcomes, and coordinating parallel workflows.

• Strengthen development processes through testing, CI, agent reviews, and reusable skills that prevent recurring issues.

Requirements:

• Strong backend or full-stack software engineering background, with recent hands‑on AI engineering experience.

• Proven experience delivering AI agents or LLM-powered features to production, with real users actively relying on them.

• Ability to independently own the complete production lifecycle, including Terraform-based infrastructure as code, CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring.

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments, including container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, ECS, or Azure equivalents.

• Experience using evaluations and data to determine deployment readiness and measure agent performance in production.

• Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript, with practical experience building solutions using LLM APIs and MCP.

• Familiarity with agent frameworks or SDKs, including the ability to determine when a framework is unnecessary.

• Established experience using coding agents as the primary approach to software development.

• Ability to work independently, gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders, communicate clearly, and provide specific, honest answers.

• Advanced written and spoken English, as the role operates entirely in English.

• Availability to overlap with US Eastern business hours, approximately 9 AM–5 PM.

• Willingness to participate in hands‑on technical interviews, including detailed discussions of systems and solutions previously built and shipped.

• Frontend development experience on existing production platforms.
