Job summary

Baxter is seeking a Senior Specialist, Controllership in Brazil to ensure compliance with US GAAP, statutory and tax requirements. You will lead statutory and tax reporting, coordinate external audits, and liaise with tax authorities while working with regional teams to improve finance processes.

This role requires strong accounting knowledge, multinational experience, and the ability to travel as needed. English fluency is essential; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in general accounting with taxes and regs.
• Experience in multinational environment and/or audit.
• Strong knowledge of local GAAPs and tax matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead statutory, US GAAP and tax accounting/reporting for entities in scope.
• Coordinate external statutory audits and ensure timely audit deliverables.
• Act as liaison with local tax authorities for direct and indirect taxes.
• Ensure processes adhere to policies, audits, and local regulations; strengthen controls.
• Collaborate with finance and non-finance teams and external providers on end-to-end processes.

Your role

At Baxter The Specialist, Controllership role at Baxter is part of Regional Controlling organization and is critical in ensuring compliance with US GAAP, statutory and tax requirements in Brazil. From General Ledger knowledge to specialized statutory regional regulation, this professional analyses, processes and correct accounting activities while identifies irregularities in Taxes, Statutory regulations or any other accounting related process.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the preparation and execution of Statutory, US GAAP and tax accounting and reporting for the entities in scope; ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the reporting.
• Lead the preparation for external statutory audits, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, timely delivery of audit requirements, and successful completion of audit activities.
• Act as a liaison for local tax authorities for direct and indirect tax day-to-day interactions, queries and audits.
• Ensure adherence of processes to company's policies and procedures, internal and external audit requirements and local rules and regulations; support strengthening of financial processes and controls.
• Work closely with other finance and non-finance teams, as well as external providers, in execution of end-to-end finance processes.
• Participate in resolution of complex accounting and tax issues.
• Participate in local, regional, and global projects, as required.
• Be an advocate of finance function.
• Maintain focus on continuous process improvement.

Requisites

• Minimum of 7 years in general accounting with knowledge in local regulations including taxes and national and international best practices.
• Proven experience in a multinational environment and/or audit.
• Excellent knowledge of local GAAPs and tax matters for the countries in scope.
• Very good knowledge of US GAAP.
• Excellent communication skills, diplomatic, flexible and \"can do\" mind-set.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English. Spanish is nice to have.
• Strong reporting tools including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Master's degree in Finance/Accounting or part qualified /qualified ACCA/CPA.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally as required.
• Experience in JDE, Blackline and W-Desk is an advantage.
• Additional hours at critical times (e.g., month-end) may be required.
• Also, and on an exceptional basis, the role may require work on public holidays.
