We’re looking for our next Software Engineer. Could It Be You?

We seek a highly skilled and innovative Software Engineer to join our team remotely. As a forward-thinking technologist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing cutting-edge web applications that drive our business forward.

• Work on projects of all sizes, from small to large
• Participate in all stages of software development, from gathering requirements to implementing solutions, testing, and monitoring
• Design and build high-quality software applications that meet business needs
• Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and architects to create exceptional applications.

Problem solving and analytical skills:

• Be a forward-thinking technologist who is continuously researching new approaches to problems and discussing them with others in a productive manner, in a community of practice setting.
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to complex software challenges
• Ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks for efficient resolution

Technical Skills and experience:

• Implement and test web applications, with a focus on back end components.
• Be actively involved in building new application features and functionality, improving scalability and maintainability.
• Provide support for complex and hybrid (cloud and on-premises) infrastructure environments
• Troubleshoot issues at the infrastructure and software levels; recommend fixes and upgrades to ensure proper operability
• Help support production applications and address issues to respect service level objectives (SLOs)
• Unit test code to ensure high coverage
• If needed, participate in research and proof of concepts, ensuring the value is documented and socialized.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• Ability to communicate effectively in remote settings, both verbally and in writing
• Ensure timely escalation of issues that are blocking oneself or the team.
• Share knowledge and lessons learned with others in the organization.

Teamwork and collaboration:

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote work environment
• Strong self-management skills, including time management and task prioritization
• Meet with user interface and experience designers, architects, and engineers as needed to obtain, analyze, and document requirements for new functionality or applications.
• Provide and receive feedback through code reviews

Other responsibilities:

• Keep up-to-date with tech industry trends to help improve Questrade products
• Assist with the technical screening of new team members joining engineering teams.

• Web: REST APIs written using Microservices in .NET Core and C#
• Data: MySQL, MSSQL, Document based DB, Redis Cache.
• Version control: Git (experience with Gitlab or Github)
• Tools: Jira, Confluence
• Experience in a remote-first or remote-friendly company
• Experience with Agile workflow
• Experience with gRPC server and/or web streaming
• Experience with Angular 2+ or any similar modern front end development
• Experience with Node.js
• Experience with CI/CD on Gitlab or Github actions
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform products (e.g. Google Kubernetes Engine, Firestore, PubSub, etc.) or similar experience with other cloud providers
• Postman or similar
