NATURE AND SCOPE:Internal contacts include administrators, faculty, learners, and staff of the department and University. External contacts include vendors, visitors and the general public.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Simulation Course Responsibilities
- Assist faculty in the design, implementation, and execution of simulation-based courses inclusive of pre-briefing, creating props, moulage, debriefing, programming manikins, and operating simulation and a/v equipment.
- Works with the entire team to ensure the simulation scenarios and environment are realistic and adhere to education pedagogy and simulation standards of best practice.
- Identify implement and manage hardware software and multimedia resources to support the simulation center.
- Assist IT Manager to maintain equipment and systems including trouble-shooting equipment updating operating systems troubleshooting equipment and resolving system problems with the manufacturer.
- Responsible for all set up, transition and breakdown for all sessions daily.
- Support / assist in role-playing application and props placement to create a virtual healthcare setting.
Clinical Procedural and Technical Skills Course Responsibilities.
- Support all procedures and technical skills classes which includes set-up/breakdown, providing laboratory orientation, and maintaining equipment. Provide laboratory orientation to all learners and faculty.
- Maintain the highest standards for a sterile environment by utilizing standard protocol and OSHA regulations.
- Manage all aspects of the area which includes animal tissue storage, restocking, and equipment maintenance.
Education and Training
- Lead faculty training sessions on simulation equipment and debriefing techniques.
Technical Responsibilities
- Assist the IT manager to ensure the stability of the technology infrastructure through testing and troubleshooting, and perform any minor repairs needed as well as coordinating with technology partners and manufacturers.
- Proficiency in operating the technology in the Center inclusive of the audio/visual system and virtual software, and virtual reality trainers.
- Assist in ensuring Center is HIPPA and FERPA rules are followed.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide various reports to supervisors as needed.
- Assist IT Manager with maintenance repair and maintenance records for all simulation and computer equipment
- Lead team member in asset management tracking of medical and disposable supplies as well as creating supply orders.
- Attend and contribute to all planning meetings and dry runs scheduled for sessions.
- Facilitate Center tours for visitors.
- Assist in implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
- Keep abreast of all university and healthcare policies to integrate into Simulation Center policies.
Research Initiatives:
- Supports the short-, immediate, and long-term teaching, research, and revenue-generating goals of the Center.
Professional Development
- Maintains professional simulation knowledge as well as keep abreast of new innovation and laboratory guidelines and practices
- Aim to achieve to become a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare
- Establish personal networks
- Participating in professional societies
- Attends educational and technical workshops and seminars quarterly.
- Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education:
- Associate’s degree in related field required
- Prefer Bachelor’s degree in related field
Experience:
- 5 years professional experience in an academic, clinical healthcare or simulation learning environment
- Working knowledge and proficiency in computers, application software, and operating systems and information technology equipment
- Experience with or willingness to learn to program and operation simulation equipment from companies such as Laerdal, METI, Gaumard, Harvey and etc.
- Certification and/or experience in Laboratory Science
- Experience with the tools used in making minor electronic and/or mechanical repairs, e.g., soldering gun/iron, wire strippers, multi-meters, etc.
Licensure:
- Prefer certification in simulation or education
Work Hours
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.

Expected Pay Range: $57,979 - $63,777.60
