Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Post Award, this position collaborates with the Office of Research, Finance, and IT to improve workflows, address system-related issues, and ensure the accurate reflection of sponsored program activities in Workday. The analyst plays a critical role in triaging user issues, modifying business processes, and leading system cleanup and data integrity efforts.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The analyst works across functional areas, including Post Award Services, Grants and Contracts Accounting, Sponsored Programs, IT, and external consultants, to optimize and sustain a compliant and responsive Workday environment for sponsored programs. The role supports business process owners and end-users in resolving configuration issues and implementing system improvements.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Analyze research expenditures and labor distributions in Workday to support federal reporting and internal decision-making.
- Configure and maintain Workday Grants Management modules to ensure alignment with institutional post-award business practices.
- Triage and resolve system issues impacting grant award setup, invoicing, financial reporting, and effort certification.
- Partner with functional teams to map and test updated business processes and grant workflows.
- Collaborate on crosswalks and data clean-up activities related to legacy awards, grant hierarchies, and worktags.
- Develop and run data queries and reports to identify anomalies, monitor usage, and ensure data integrity.
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and coordinate technical updates with IT and vendors as needed.
- Assist with training and knowledge transfer to post-award staff related to new functionality or changes in Workday.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance automation, accuracy, and compliance in post-award Workday functions.
- Document Workday configuration decisions, enhancements, issue resolutions, and business process enhancements.
- Support audits and compliance reviews requiring system-generated grant data.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Strong knowledge of federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) as it relates to invoicing and financial reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of Workday Grants or similar ERP grant modules (e.g., Oracle, Banner, PeopleSoft).
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise systems for sponsored research.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a complex data and system environment.
- Knowledge of post-award processes including invoicing, award setup, and financial reporting.
- Ability to interpret Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and sponsor compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and functional teams.
- Proficiency in Excel, data analysis tools, and report generation platforms (Workday PRISM or equivalent).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in ERP system administration or grants management system configuration.
- Experience supporting grants or financial modules in Workday.
- Familiarity with federal grant compliance frameworks and Uniform Guidance required.
- Strong technical documentation and workflow mapping skills desirable.
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
Compensation Range: $120,000 - $130,000
