THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to our Data Platform team in Brazil (Remote)!

The Data Platform Team is responsible for building and maintaining system components that pave the way for data engineers and analysts to deliver their business objectives. This team leverages open-source software, uses cloud infrastructure and services, and builds software to accomplish its mission.

People on this team have different technical backgrounds, such as software engineering, systems administration (Kubernetes), cloud infrastructure and services, data analysis, and data governance.

This is an established team with a strong culture that expects collaboration, humbleness, accountability, empathy, and a sense of humor.

Some ongoing and future projects

• Migrate existing data lake tables to Apache Iceberg
• Autoscale Trino for data transformation pipelines
• Creating a GitHub App to manage table schemas with data contracts (GitOps + DataOps)
• Optimize data lake tables for existing queries with statistics collection and file rewrites

• Advocate for improvements in software quality, security, and performance
• Embrace the DataOps mindset to streamline and optimize repetitive tasks
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts to drive efficiencies for their work
• Provide tooling that improves the product development process and prevents failures
• Ensure that knowledge is shared effectively with internal documentation and personal interaction

WHO YOU ARE

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• Solid experience with Python, Java, or similar
• Solid understanding of relational databases fundamentals and solid SQL skills (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Familiarity with Kafka, Pulsar, or RabbitMQ (Kafka preferred)
• Proficiency with Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane (Kubernetes experience desired)
• Experience with distributed systems and data-intensive applications
• Knowledge of analytical data warehouses
• Genuine interest in big data applications and their technology trends
