About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can build backend systems and own technical client integrations from planning through production.
This role requires someone who can join client calls, understand integration requirements, ask the right technical questions, identify edge cases, and then personally build, test, deploy, debug, and support the implementation.
This is not a project manager role. This is not a solutions engineer role. This is a hands‑on senior engineering role for someone who can work with clients and still own the actual code.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services, APIs, integrations, workers, data pipelines, and internal tools.
- Work directly with clients, vendors, and technical partners to plan integrations.
- Translate client requirements into clear technical plans, tasks, timelines, and launch criteria.
- Build integrations with client APIs, webhooks, file feeds, payment systems, CRMs, ecommerce platforms, dispute platforms, fraud tools, and internal systems.
- Work with merchant data, transaction data, alert data, dispute data, chargeback data, reporting workflows, and operational dashboards.
- Debug production issues across logs, payloads, database records, API responses, scheduled jobs, and external systems.
- Write reliable, maintainable Python code with strong error handling, logging, testing, and operational visibility.
- Improve existing systems to reduce manual work, prevent repeated issues, and make client onboarding faster.
- Create technical documentation for integrations, workflows, edge cases, runbooks, and client-specific behavior.
- Review code and help improve system reliability, maintainability, and delivery speed.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands‑on backend engineering experience with Python.
- Experience with FastAPI, Flask, SQLAlchemy, Airflow, or similar backend/data workflow tools.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working directly with MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or similar databases.
- Experience building REST APIs, webhooks, workers, scheduled jobs, ETL workflows, and third‑party integrations.
- Experience debugging production systems using logs, payloads, database queries, API responses, and observed system behavior.
- Strong understanding of authentication, API contracts, idempotency, retries, deduplication, rate limits, error handling, and failure recovery.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients, vendors, product, support, data, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
- Ability to write clear technical plans, implementation notes, documentation, and client‑facing technical updates.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently in a high‑velocity environment.
Preferred Experience
- Recent hands‑on experience in payments, PayFac, acquiring, merchant services, fraud prevention, chargebacks, disputes, risk, banking, ecommerce, or transaction processing.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Linux, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and production operations.
- Experience integrating with payment processors, gateways, CRMs, ecommerce platforms, dispute platforms, fraud tools, or financial data providers.
- Experience working with sensitive financial, merchant, transaction, or customer data.
- Experience turning one‑off client integrations into reusable systems or patterns.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior backend engineer who can be trusted in front of clients.
You can understand a client’s technical requirements, identify risks, define the implementation path, and then build the software yourself. You care about whether the integration works in production, whether the data is correct, whether failures are visible, and whether the client can launch successfully.
You move quickly without being reckless, communicate blockers early, and make practical decisions under real business pressure.
