Job summary

AgileEngine Brazil is seeking a Senior Python Developer to design and build scalable microservices and REST APIs, collaborating closely with Product, DevOps, and Frontend teams.

You will own backend architecture, write clean, testable code with Pytest, and promote modern Python practices (async, typing, design patterns) while delivering production-grade services for Fortune 500 and innovative startups. Flexible schedule with remote or office options is offered.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend Python development experience.
• Strong Python core concepts including OOP, async, and memory management.
• Proven REST APIs and distributed microservices experience.
• Relational DBs with PostgreSQL and ORM proficiency.
• Unit/integration/e2e testing with Pytest.
• Git workflows with PRs, branching, and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance microservices and RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask).
• Write clean, readable, maintainable, well-tested code and conduct peer reviews.
• Containerize apps with Docker and implement CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Design schemas, write optimized SQL queries, and work with ORMs (SQLAlchemy) with PostgreSQL/MySQL and NoSQL databases.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services with attention to latency, availability, and security.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with frontend, product, and DevOps teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to design and build scalable microservices and REST APIs, working closely with Product, DevOps, and Frontend teams.

MUST HAVES

• 4+ years of professional backend software development experience using Python.
• Deep understanding of Python core concepts (OOP, functional programming, memory management, async/concurrency, and data structures).
• API & Microservices: Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade REST APIs and distributed microservices architectures.
• Databases: Strong proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks.
• Testing: Commitment to writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using frameworks like Pytest.
• Version Control: Advanced proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (Pull Requests, branching strategies, code reviews).

NICE TO HAVES

• CI/CD & DevOps Tools: Solid hands-on experience with Docker (writing optimized Dockerfiles and Docker Compose).
• Highly desirable experience setting up and managing GitHub Actions workflows for automated testing and deployment.

• Database Management: Design schema models, write optimized SQL queries, and work with ORMs (e.g., SQLAlchemy) alongside relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.
• System Integration & Scalability: Integrate third-party APIs and services while ensuring low latency, high availability, and strong security standards.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams; mentor junior and mid-level engineers to elevate the team's overall technical capability.
