Job summary

Sigma Software is seeking a Senior/Principal Data Engineer to join a distributed engineering team building cloud-native data solutions for analytics, ML, and enterprise operations. This fully remote role offers mentorship of engineers and influence over architectural decisions across batch and streaming pipelines.

You will design and scale data platforms, collaborate with Product Managers and Analysts, and drive best practices in CI/CD, observability, and data quality.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of experience in Software Engineering and 3-5+ years in Data Engineering.
• Upper-Intermediate or higher English level.
• Experience building scalable data platforms and pipelines in cloud environments.
• Advanced SQL knowledge and data modeling principles.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with Spark, Databricks, and Kafka.
• Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows.
• Strong AWS cloud experience and cloud-native data services.
• Experience designing modern data warehouses or lakehouses.
• Strong system design and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance business and technical priorities while making architecture decisions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms, pipelines, and data products.
• Drive architecture discussions related to data modeling, storage strategies, integration patterns, and platform evolution.
• Take end-to-end ownership of technical solutions and contribute to architectural and engineering decision-making.

PROJECT

You will join a team responsible for designing and scaling modern data infrastructure capable of handling both batch and streaming workloads. The project includes platform modernization initiatives, architecture evolution, and implementation of secure and reliable data pipelines using cloud-native technologies. The role combines hands-on engineering, architectural ownership, and cross-functional collaboration with Product Managers, Analysts, and Software Engineers.

Job Description

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable data platforms, pipelines, and data products
