Sovos is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead production SQL Server environments, ensure performance, security, and high availability for our enterprise SaaS platforms used by 100,000+ customers. You’ll mentor DBAs, collaborate with engineers, and implement patches and DR testing.

Join a global team, leverage AI-assisted tooling, and help scale mission-critical databases with minimal downtime, while maintaining strong security and reliability across regions.

• Availability to attend the office once a week (Condesa, CDMX).

Responsabilidades

• Serve as a subject matter expert for critical database technologies, leading resolution of complex incidents and performance issues across SQL Server environments.
• Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions to optimize query response times and system throughput.
• Collaborate with software engineers and tech leads to review query designs and schema changes, ensuring efficiency and scalability prior to deployment.
• Lead the implementation of patches, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime, including backup/recovery strategies, high-availability setups, and disaster recovery testing.
• Mentor and support junior DBAs and application teams, driving adoption of database best practices across the organization.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling and automation to streamline monitoring, root cause analysis, and operational workflows.
• Communicate database health, maintenance status, and potential risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The Role

At Sovos, we manage and scale the database infrastructure that powers tax compliance for more than 100,000 customers across 100+ countries. As a Senior Database Administrator, you'll be a hands-on technical leader responsible for the performance, security, and availability of our enterprise database environments, keeping mission-critical SaaS applications running at their best.

More Specifically, You Will

• Serve as a subject matter expert for critical database technologies, leading resolution of complex incidents and performance issues across SQL Server environments.
• Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning solutions to optimize query response times and system throughput.

What You Bring to Sovos

• Strong foundational knowledge in database systems, acquired through formal education or equivalent hands-on experience.
• You have hands-on experience managing production database environments, resolving performance issues, and implementing tuning solutions. with deep expertise in performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Strong proficiency with SQL Server environments, with a deep understanding of database internals.
• Fluent English, written and verbal.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Product and Technology teams and guide peers to adopt best practices.
• Comfort working with AI tools to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
• Availability to attend the office once a week (Condesa, CDMX).
• Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check upon hire.
