Rincon Consultants is seeking a Senior Cultural Resources Project Manager possessing cultural resources management experience and specialized in California Geoarchaeology to join our team of professionals working on a variety of projects, including Utilities, Renewable Energy, Community Development, and other projects. The role entails serving as subject matter expert on large utility contracts and managing complex projects and fieldwork. Duties include successfully managing and completing project deliverables and work products, leading fieldwork, people management, and client coordination and management.

Qualities of the ideal candidate include: strong leadership capabilities, technical and regulatory knowledge and experience, the ability to both collaborate as part of a team and work independently, attention to detail and organizational skills, excellent time management capabilities, and strong communication skills. While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

This is a minimum 40 hour per week position and some 40+ weeks may be necessary based on project needs.

As a Senior Supervising Archaeologist/Senior Program Manager, you will be tasked with performing the following:

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate successful project completion of multiple projects with varied regulatory requirements including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and National Environmental Policy Act
• Manage projects, client expectations, schedules, and budgets
• Supervise and direct staff to ensure optimal productivity, foster mentorship, training and employee recognition
• Prepare high-quality reports and report contributions, environmental document sections, correspondences, and other written work products
• Lead field projects including survey, testing, and data recovery projects, and, in coordination with Principals/Directors, provide technical oversight of methods and data collection
• Oversee and complete work products and fieldwork in a timely and efficient manner and ensuring quality of work products
• Coordinate and lead project meetings
• Lead client, agency, stakeholder community including local Native American groups, Rincon peer, subcontractor, and vendor interactions
• Work in multidisciplinary teams for successful project execution including planners, biologists, paleontologists, and others
• Prepare project proposals, including development of costs and schedules
• Active engagement and participation in client service and business development
• Participate in Rincon’s mentorship program including providing mentorship of junior staff and engaging in peer-to-peer mentorship and engagement with senior mentors
• Other duties as required by cultural resources Principals/Directors and others

This Job Might Be for You If You Have the Following:

• Meet or exceed the qualifications detailed in 36 CFR part 61 for Archeology
• Minimum of 9+ years of increasingly successful environmental consulting experience in the above-mentioned technical and project management areas
• Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification
• Expertise in historic and prehistoric archaeology
• Athorough understanding of CEQA and NEPA as they relate to cultural resources and related fields, and Section 106 of the NHPA
• Strong technical writing, fieldwork, and problem-solving skills
• Strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership ability, effective communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projectsand staff
• Prior experience working on large utility contracts and Renewables projects

Desired:

• Osteology and/or faunal analysis experience
• Geoarchaeological assessment experience
• Experience/working relationships with local Native American groups
• Experience with utilities and renewables projects
• Experience coordinating/interacting with environmental planners and other non-cultural resources experts
• Working knowledge of historic built environment resources

The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000–$150,000, plus a generous benefits program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
