Dijital Team Pty is seeking a Remote Operations Engineer (NOC) to support day-to-day IT operations for a managed services provider. You will focus on backup monitoring, verification, patch remediation, and health checks across multiple client environments, working remotely with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Veeam, Azure Backup, Datto RMM, and Windows Server environments, and excels at documenting outcomes and escalating incidents when needed.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Remote Operations Engineer (NOC) to support the day-to-day IT operations of a leading Australian Managed Service Provider (MSP).

This role focuses on backup monitoring and verification, patch remediation, and recurring infrastructure health checks across multiple client environments. You will be responsible for identifying operational issues, performing approved remediation activities, maintaining accurate ticket documentation, and escalating incidents when necessary.

The ideal candidate is a proactive IT professional with hands-on experience in Veeam, Azure Backup, Datto RMM, and Windows Server environments who can work independently while following established operational procedures.

Ideal Profile

Backup & Recovery Expertise

• Hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication, including backup monitoring, file-level recovery, repository management, and capacity checks.
• Practical knowledge of Azure Backup, Recovery Services vaults, and file recovery from restore points.
• Experience reviewing backup histories, identifying failures, validating backup integrity, and performing test restores.
• Familiarity with Datto BCDR and SaaS Protection platforms.

Remote Monitoring & Patch Management

• Proven experience using Datto RMM for endpoint monitoring, patch deployment, compliance verification, and remediation.
• Ability to investigate failed Windows updates, troubleshoot patching issues, and verify successful remediation.
• Understanding of Windows Server and workstation administration, including troubleshooting system updates and reboot-related issues.
• Basic PowerShell scripting knowledge would be advantageous.

Operational & Documentation Skills

• Experience working within an MSP or structured IT operations environment.
• Strong understanding of ticketing systems, technical documentation, and checklist-driven processes.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, capture supporting screenshots, and document remediation outcomes.
• Clear written English communication skills with the ability to produce concise technical updates.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, and sound judgment regarding incident escalation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established operational and security procedures.

Security & Compliance Awareness

• Understanding of multi‑factor authentication, least‑privilege access, and secure remote administration.
• Awareness of data protection requirements and appropriate handling of confidential client information.
• Ability to follow approved change management procedures and maintain secure access practices.

Responsibilities

Backup Monitoring & Verification

• Perform recurring backup health checks across multiple client environments using Veeam, Azure Backup, and Datto solutions.
• Review backup job histories, investigate warning indicators, and identify failed or incomplete backup operations.
• Monitor backup repository capacity, recovery points, and offsite storage availability.
• Conduct file-level test restores from local and offsite backups to verify recoverability.
• Perform Azure Backup recovery tests using available recovery points, ensuring temporary recovery resources are appropriately removed afterward.
• Review backup configurations to confirm required servers, resources, and workloads remain protected.
• Carry out backup solution reviews and maintain accurate backup documentation.
• Monitor Datto BCDR and SaaS Protection consoles, recording and escalating identified issues.
• Complete additional backup verification activities, including chain integrity checks, where required by documented procedures.

Patch Remediation & Endpoint Management

• Review automated patch compliance tickets generated through Datto RMM.
• Investigate patching failures and confirm reported issues on the affected devices.
• Perform approved remediation activities, including restarting patch jobs, resolving failed updates, and coordinating authorized reboots.
• Validate successful patch installation and device compliance through Datto RMM.
• Capture supporting evidence, including update status screenshots, and attach it to the relevant tickets.
• Document remediation steps, outcomes, and unresolved issues.
• Escalate recurring patch failures, unresponsive devices, or incidents requiring advanced troubleshooting.

Operational Monitoring & Maintenance

• Perform recurring infrastructure health checks and first‑line operational tasks using established monitoring and management tools.
• Follow documented checklists and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent service delivery.
• Identify operational risks, abnormalities, and infrastructure issues requiring further investigation.
• Support the introduction of additional routine monitoring and maintenance tasks as operational requirements evolve.
• Carry out approved troubleshooting activities within defined technical and security boundaries.

Incident Escalation & Ticket Management

• Escalate failed backup restores, missing recovery points, inaccessible backup repositories, and persistent backup failures.
• Identify and report recurring patch installation failures and systems that remain offline or unresponsive after updates.
• Create detailed escalation tickets containing relevant error messages, screenshots, troubleshooting history, and verification results.
• Maintain accurate ticket records, including actions performed, affected devices, and clear pass/fail outcomes.
• Ensure technical documentation is updated and operational tasks are appropriately recorded and closed.
• Collaborate with internal technical teams to facilitate efficient incident resolution.

Optional – Advanced Backup Troubleshooting

• Investigate backup failures and warnings involving repository capacity, Veeam backup locks, and Azure agent connectivity.
• Perform approved first‑line troubleshooting to identify potential causes of backup failures.
• Document investigation findings and elevate unresolved issues to the appropriate technical teams.
