The Opportunity

Poatek is hiring for an enthusiastic Senior Backend Engineer. You will be responsible for designing and building scalable and resilient backend systems that power our applications. Leveraging your expertise in cloud technologies, databases, and API development, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions that meet the needs of our clients and users.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality software by applying critical thinking to products, requirements, and processes
• Partner with clients to influence technical product decisions and business goals
• Stay updated with software engineering best practices, tools, and frameworks
• Have extensive professional programming experience—at least 12+ years
• Understand various software architectures and adapt solutions to unique problems
• Mentor and coach project teams towards shared goals
• Navigate difficult conversations with constructive feedback
• Identify obstacles to improve user experience and software quality
• Be aware of limitations, curious to learn, and receptive to feedback
• Guide teams through changing priorities with positive energy
• Communicate complex problems clearly to multidisciplinary teams
• Design and develop scalable 12-factor apps in cloud environments
• Work with relational and non-relational databases for efficient data access
• Design and develop reliable, well-documented APIs
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions

Qualifications

• Curious and eager to learn new technologies
• Problem solver with a passion for creative solutions
• Professional experience in programming, writing high-quality code from scratch
• Experience with Node.js is essential
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.
• Mentorship, code reviews, and pair programming experience
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.
• Developing RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Effective communication of system architecture and decisions
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment tools
